Close or delete a listing

What happens to open requests when a listing closes, an animal goes, or a listing is deleted, and when an animal comes back.

Closing a listing or marking an animal gone

When you close a listing, or mark an animal as gone, PerfectPal shows the requests still open on it and offers to decline them with one message, so every buyer knows. For example: "They have all found homes. Thank you for your interest."

Requests with a payment on them are never declined in bulk: they're marked Has a payment: open it to cancel and refund. Open each one to cancel it and choose what to refund.

Deleting a listing

Deleting declines the open requests on the listing and tells the buyers. It's refused while:

  • money is held on an open request or an unfinished order for it, or
  • a buyer is in the middle of checking out.

The page says what's in the way. See I can't delete a listing.

If you only want to hide it for now, pause or close it instead: that keeps its history.

When an animal comes back

If an animal that went home through a request comes back to you, open it and choose It came back. Enter the day it came back, then Offer it again in this listing or Keep it for now (not offered), with an optional private note. Its records, health results and family tree stay with it. Buyers see only the day it went home and the day it came back, never who had it.

An animal that went home through a request can't simply be switched back to available: use It came back, so its history stays with it.
