Cancel a request

End a request with a reason, and choose what to refund when the buyer has paid.

A request can end early: the seller cancels, or the buyer withdraws. Either way it goes through one step, so the money and the other side are always taken care of.

When no money has been paid

Choose Cancel request, give a reason (it's sent to the buyer) and confirm. Any open payment request on it is closed too.

When the buyer has paid

Choose Cancel and refund. The step shows:

  • how much the buyer has paid on this request, and how much of it was paid outside PerfectPal (refund that directly);
  • your refund terms, as the buyer accepted them;
  • Refund to the buyer's card, filled in from those terms. Change it if you've agreed something else, up to what was paid by card. Enter 0 to keep it all, under your terms.

The buyer is told what happened to their money. If you refund a deposit in full and nothing else stands toward the price, the request goes back to where it was before the deposit, so you can ask for a new one or cancel.

You can't cancel a request with a plain status change while money stands on it: it always goes through this step.

When the buyer withdraws

The buyer gives a reason, and the request ends. If they had paid, nothing is refunded automatically: you're told how much still stands on the request, and you refund what your terms allow from the request page. See Refund a payment.

An animal reserved by the request

When a matched request is cancelled, the animal it reserved is free again.
