Refund terms
Say what you keep if a buyer backs out, in plain terms buyers accept before paying.
Every payment request carries refund terms: what you keep if the buyer backs out. Buyers read and accept them before paying, and they decide what the cancel step suggests refunding.
Your defaults
Money › Payments › Your refund terms is your starting point for each payment request and for paying in full:
- Non-refundable part if the buyer backs out: none (everything is refundable), the whole payment, a fixed amount, or a percentage.
- Full refund if the buyer cancels within (days): a window after paying when everything comes back. 0 means no window.
When you keep something, buyers see a plain summary above your own wording, for example "$50 of this payment is non-refundable if you cancel." With the fields at "None", your wording stands alone.
You can change the terms on each payment request.
Templates
PerfectPal offers refund terms templates in your page's language as a starting point for your own wording. Replace anything like [DATE] before sending.
When you cancel
The cancel step pre-fills the refund from the terms the buyer accepted: nothing kept inside the full-refund window, otherwise what the terms keep. You can still change the amount. Requests whose terms were written in words only suggest refunding everything. See Cancel a request.
