Quantity, stock and editing many listings

How quantity drives availability, what buyers see during checkout, and how to edit or import many listings at once.

Quantity drives availability

If you fill in Quantity available on a stock listing:

  • At 0 it shows as out of stock.
  • Each buy-now sale takes the quantity down.
  • Add stock to a sold-out listing and it's back in stock, and anyone who asked to be told when it's back gets a notice.
  • Tell me when this many are left sends you one notice when sales take the quantity to that number or under.

Leave quantity blank if you don't count stock.

During checkout

When a buyer starts paying, the units they're buying are held for them until their checkout ends. If the hold leaves less than the least per order, other buyers see Someone is checking out and the time it frees up, and the listing page refreshes by itself when the hold ends. Nothing is sold twice.

Edit many at once

Stock listings › Edit many at once shows every stock listing in a table: change prices, quantities, availability, status and the "tell me" number, then save them together. Tick listings to pause them, make them active, mark them in or out of stock, offer or stop shipping, or raise or lower prices by a percentage (you see the new prices before anything changes). If one change can't be made, none are. This page depends on your plan.

Import from a spreadsheet

Stock listings › Import them from a spreadsheet:

  1. Download the template for your kind of animal. It has the right columns and one example row to replace.
  2. Fill it in (yes or no for checkboxes, prices like 3.50) and save it as CSV.
  3. Upload it. Every row is checked before anything is created, and the page lists any rows to fix.
  4. Add photos to each listing afterwards.

To update listings you already have, choose Download my listings (CSV) on the Edit many page, change the file and upload it: rows keep their id, so the same listings are updated, and rows without an id are added as new listings.
