Care guide
Caring for domestic cats
Domestic shorthairs and longhairs are non-pedigree cats in every colour and personality. They're often healthy and adaptable, and their care follows the basics every cat needs.
Getting to know your cat
Watch your kitten's personality and energy and adjust play and handling to suit them. Meeting the mother is the best guide to how they'll turn out.
Health
Keep up with vaccines, parasite control and yearly vet visits. Ask the seller whether the kitten and mother have been tested for FeLV and FIV.
Coat care
Shorthairs need a weekly brush; longhairs need combing several times a week to prevent mats.
