Congo African greys are among the most intelligent parrots and often excellent talkers. They need daily mental challenges, a predictable routine and a diet with enough calcium.

Keep them busy

Greys need puzzles, foraging and training every day. They can be sensitive to change; bored or stressed greys may pluck their feathers.

With good care many live 40 to 60 years or more, so plan for who will care for your bird if your life changes.

Diet and calcium

A quality pellet with vegetables and some fruit. Greys are prone to low calcium; ask an avian vet about calcium and whether your bird needs full-spectrum lighting or more time outdoors in a safe enclosure.

Housing

A cage at least 90 cm wide with 1.9 to 2.5 cm bar spacing, and several hours out of the cage every day.
